The art of road trips

Liru walk

Much of my landscape work has been influenced by the adventures I have had during many road trips throughout Australia. When exploring Australia in this way, it allows an artist to experience so much of what this land has to offer and always provides such a variety of scenery to inspire landscape paintings.

There is so much to see across this country and the colors and textures that it offers is unlimited. I love the beautiful contrast of the Central Australian red dessert against the bright clear blue sky and the vibrant colours found in the sky at sunrise and sunset.I also find a lot of inspiration in the shapes found in nature, often on the horizon with a stunning sky behind. These natural shapes and forms can look amazing when abstracted and also enhance the colour of the sky and earth.

During my travels I have been able to explore in my work, places such as the Daintree rainforest with all of it’s lush greens, the bright red dessert in Central Australia, the rock formations of the Devils Marbles, Kata-Tjuta and Uluru and the stunning beauty of The Great Barrier Reef.

Australia has such a diverse range of landscapes to explore, each offering something unique and different. I aim to capture in my paintings this gorgeous diversity as well as the vibrancy of color and light, but also the romance of this land and the feelings it inspires.
