This painting tells the story of the first time we visited Uluru and did the 3 hour base walk. We saw so many things on that day and many of those things are represented within this painting. I have used bright, intense colour to highlight the contrasts you get in this type of landscape and I have painted this in a vertical format rather than horizontal as I wanted to really show the size of the rock which is really hard to comprehend unless you have seen it with your own eyes. It really is stunning the way it towers above the trees and contrasts with the rich blue of the sky.
Doing the base walk was one of the highlights of this trip for me, as it really gave me a chance to take in all the details and beauty of the landscape, which at the time was unlike anything I had seen before.
